Office coffee delivery

Illustration for: Office coffee delivery

Office coffee delivery is a monthly drop of beans, sized to the hopper, not a courier with a tray of takeaway cups. Workplaces search it when the cupboard is empty again, or when someone is tired of the supermarket run.

The useful version is kilograms on a calendar. The rest is a café downstairs, billed per cup.

What gets delivered

Freshly roasted café-quality Arabica, roasted locally, sold by the kilogram. Shop orders ship the next day. On the machine plan the drop arrives each month with the hopper in mind. Extra kilos are on the shop if a week runs hot.

You can order beans without taking a machine. Ordering by the kilogram is the unit. A 200-gram bag is a household size.

Why monthly, not a cupboard

A quarter of beans at a better unit price is usually a last bag that tastes tired. How long coffee stays fresh is the practical window: order for the month you will drink. Storage can protect a monthly bag. It cannot rescue a stash you opened in July.

Supermarket beans are built for a best-before, not a roast date. Freshly roasted versus supermarket is how to tell which bag you have.

How much to put on the order

At about 7 grams a cup, a planning figure, a kilogram is in the region of 140 cups. Twenty people, two cups, twenty working days is about 5.6 kilograms, so plan around 6 or 7. That is a working example from an office of twenty, not a package. A warehouse smoko or a busy reception will drink more. The first month corrects the guess.

One coffee in the hopper. Four open kilograms of four blends is a cupboard, not a delivery plan.

Delivery with a machine, or without

Beans on their own replace the supermarket run. Beans with the machine replace the hire quote as well. Arico installs a Saeco Royal Plus. The machine, servicing, and tech support are $0 while you order beans each month, from as little as 40 cents a cup. How the free machine works is that trade.

If you already have a machine on hire, the delivery can still be the beans. Read the exclusive-supply line on that contract first. Switching suppliers is the paperwork.

What delivery is not

It is not a barista at your door. It is not cups, milk, or a tasting flight. It is not Australia-wide if we cannot service the site; the postcode decides that on the call.

If the office is running out mid-week, the order is small, not the courier. Move the unit to kilograms and the calendar to a month.
